A TRIBUTE TO OUR HEROS
Cancer’s destructive path has touched us all as well as the people we love. On Sunday, November 11, 2007, we dedicated our yoga practice to celebrate those loved ones who continue to fight the disease and to commemorate those loved ones who have succumbed to it. One hundred percent of the donation to our first-ever Flow for a Cure was given to the American Cancer Society. Together we made a difference. Together we honored our heroes.
EVENT & DONATIONS...
Flow for a Cure was held at 4pm on Sunday, November 11th with a candlelight meditation and dedication as we acknowledged our loved ones silently or verbally. Then we practiced 108 sun salutations. The sun salutations were optional; you were welcome to attend solely the candlelight meditation and dedication and then enjoy refreshments in the Zen Den. Donations were made at the studio or the YogaSport Flow for a Cure ACS website, and we asked for a minimum of $25. Checks were made payable to American Cancer Society or cash donations were left at the studio. Please note that if you are interested in participating in our next Flow for a Cure event, space will be limited to practice, but we will accept donations from anyone and everyone.
HONORING...
Once you have donated, register with Angela by emailing her a photo with the name of your loved one(s) affected by cancer, the type of cancer, and 50 words or less about the person(s) you are honoring. We will add your hero to our tribute website. Also, pick up a “I am flowing for...” card to post on the back wall of the studio or download it here. We encourage you to include pictures, a description or anything you would like to share about your hero(es). The website is open to the public for donations and online tributes, so please spread the word. Flow for a Cure…”Be the change you want to see in the world.”
