Furthest city traveled to: London, England (for a cheerleading competition. yes, seriously.)
Favorite guilty pleasure: I don’t know how guilty I feel about these, but I like good wine and I love to dance.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Mint Chocolate Chip
Favorite book: The Velveteen Rabbit
Favorite song: Let’s Get It On

Who inspires you the most and why? My beautiful mother, Joanne. She was a positive, warm force of life and love. She was incredibly, honestly present in her life and as she died. She passed away from ovarian cancer two years ago and she continues to inspire me every day. She’s simply my lighthouse and always will be. She was the coolest.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received? My sweet dad, Pete, is full of great pearls of wisdom and advice, so it is hard to pick just one. Here are a few…”Ash, you gotta want less or make more.”…”If you are 5 minutes early–you’re 10 minutes late, if you’re 10 minutes early–you are 5 minutes late.”…”Little A, your glass is half full.”

When did you start practicing yoga and why? I had taken yoga before, but I didn’t practice yoga until 2002. I went to a Women’s Health event at Luke’s Locker and Jessica Young was demo-ing Baptiste Power Vinyasa. I was in awe of her strength and the glow that radiated from her as she flowed. I was in her studio the very next day. I remember by the end of that first class I felt rinsed, alive, and real.

Why do you still practice/teach yoga? Other than the simple answer that it just feels like home? I practice to get in rhythm with my light and I teach to help students shine theirs. “Be the candle or be the mirror that reflects the light.”

One thing we don’t know about you that would surprise us. I still sleep with a baby blanket? Or is that too personal? I worked at Days of our Lives right out of college. “Like sands through the hour glass…so are the Days of our Lives.”
