Furthest city traveled to: Frankfurt, Germany, but my favorite place is the beach
Favorite guilty pleasure: Champagne; 1-glass with 2 raspberries; so pretty
Favorite ice cream flavor: I don’t care for ice cream but I LOVE to watch people eating ice cream from a cone. They look happy.
Favorite book: Actually, there are two: East of Eden by John Steinbeck; his dedication of the book, in a letter to his friend Pascal Covici, couldn’t be more inspirational.
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson; this book is serene and beautifully written.
Favorite song: One – version by U2 and Mary J. Blidge
Who inspires you the most and why? The beautiful and dedicated women in my Culture Club; they have held me up, challenged me, laughed at me, cried with me and stood beside me for 11 years sharing a mutual respect for each other, our differences and our dedication to enriching our lives through cultural experiences.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received? Don’t give people advice; listen.
When did you start practicing yoga and why? I started a daily yoga practice because a friend asked me. She said it would make me feel better – she was right.
Why do you still practice/teach yoga? I practice yoga because you must practice what you teach. I teach yoga because I can. The exchange of human experiences which occurs in a yoga class is real and rare. I feel called to help facilitate and hold space for yoga (union) to happen.
One thing we don’t know about you that would surprise us. This question makes me laugh. Come to one of my classes, there will for sure be an “unexpected utterance” a surprise as it were.
