In 2008, Jenny was brought to her first yoga class in Austin by a friend who was merely trying to get into shape for Spring Break. Coming from a sports and running background, she was hesitant about the stillness associated with yoga. It wasn’t love at first site, but she immediately felt the physical benefits of yoga in her body and kept coming back.
It wasn’t until Jenny moved to Dallas in 2009 and started taking classes at YogaSport that she actually “got” yoga. In an uncharacteristically long Warrior Two, the instructor told the class that like most things in life, yoga postures are not easy- they are challenging and difficult to get through. If we all just breathed through this long Warrior Two, we could get through anything in life.
It immediately clicked. Yoga outside of this studio? Why hadn’t she thought of that? Soon Jenny’s yoga practice began to transcend off the mat and show up in her work life, her relationships and in her commutes on US 75. It has taught her to live in the present, breathe through calamity and to be the best version of herself she can be.
Yoga has become such an integral part of Jenny’s life that she chose to take her practice to the next level at YogaSport. In the summer of 2012, she took the first step to sharing her passion with others by completing the YSYS 200 Hour Teacher Training and Teacher Assistant programs.
Jenny has a BBA in Marketing from UT Austin and an MA in Emerging Media and Communication from UT Dallas.
